2018-2019 Start of the Year!!
Welcome back!!! The weather continues to be hot and muggy but the calendar says it’s time for the school year to start. Each and every new school year is an exciting time for us as we get the opportunity to provide a high quality education to the young people of our community. It is also exciting to see the physical growth and maturation that takes place in our students over the summer months. Our high school student-athletes and band members have already begun the transition to the school year, with our band members participating in a week long band camp the last week of July and our football, golf and volleyball players pushing through the first few weeks of practice. Upcoming school events can be found on the school website under “District Events” and by clicking on “All Events”. We at Hilltop are excited for the start of the 2018-2019 school year and hope you and your child are as well!!!
Students entering the 7th and 12th grade need to have updated vaccination records provided to the high school office by September 14th. Students entering 7th grade are to receive a dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and a dose of Meningococcal vaccine. Students entering the 12th grade are to have a dose of Meningococcal vaccine. Vaccines are available through the Williams County Health Department, appointments times can be scheduled by calling 419-485-3141.
Students enrolled at Four County Career Center will have bus transportation from home to Hilltop resumed when school starts at Hilltop on August 21st. When Hilltop has a weather related delay, our Four County Students are also delayed and transportation from home to Hilltop will occur according to the delay schedule. On these days the bus from Hilltop to Four County will leave at 10:00 am. If Hilltop cancels for weather, four county students are not required to attend school.
Hilltop does have five built in 2-hour delays for staff professional development on October 3rd, November 7th, January 30th, and March 6th. On these days, students attending Four County will not have transportation from home to Hilltop in the morning. Students will need to get their own transportation to Hilltop and the bus from Hilltop to Four County will leave at 8 am.
All students in 7th-12th grade who attend here at Hilltop will be issued a school owned Chromebook. High school students will be able to take the devices home each day, while 7th and 8th grade students will keep their devices here. Junior High students will pick up their Chromebook daily from a charging station and return them at the end of the day. Due to the lower risk of damage, students in 7th-8th grade will only pay $15 to participation in the Chromebook Protection Plan. Students in 9th-12th grade will continue to be able to take their Chromebooks home and be assessed $35 for plan coverage. The agreement form can be obtained in the high school office or on the school home page at http://www.hilltop.k12.oh.us/ under the parents tab>>forms and handbooks>>forms. Chromebooks will be distributed at the beginning of the school year.
If you have any questions, please call the high school office at 419-924-2365. I look forward to seeing students and parents as we begin the new school year!!!
